A trip to Icy Bay to do some sea kayaking, hiking and exploring, and hopefully a little photography, was a productive trip this particular year. I very nearly didn’t bring my telephoto lens, a 500mm lens, as I didn’t think I had space, nor would have the time to really use it. On backcountry trips, I tend to not do a lot of wildlife photography, unless I’m basecamped somewhere specifically with the intent of shooting wildlife. As it turned out, I did bring the long lens, and was grateful I did when this Oystercatcher showed up near camp. Amazing birds.
